Romania Proposes Monthly Limit on Gambling Expenditure to Curb Addiction

For instance, if a person earns 5,000 RON ($1,084) in a month, they would be limited to spending a maximum of 500 RON ($108.5) on gambling in the following month. Similarly, someone earning 10,000 RON ($2,170) would only be allowed to spend up to 1,000 RON ($217) on gambling activities.
Enforcement and Compliance Monitoring
Financial institutions overseeing players’ accounts would play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the proposed gambling expenditure limits for online transactions. In the case of physical gambling establishments, operators would be responsible for monitoring and enforcing these restrictions.
Banks would be required to report any violations of the set limits and could face fines of up to 1% of their turnover for non-compliance.
